Ariya Bandara Rekawa, born on February 19, 1941, is a prominent Sri Lankan politician currently serving as the 8th governor of Uva Province. He began his political career by being elected to parliament as a member of the United National Party in 1989, and served as Deputy Chairman of Committees until 1994. Rekawa was also the Sri Lankan ambassador to the Philippines from 2001 to 2004. His notable appointment as Governor of Uva Province was made on May 11, 2018.
