Arthur Beiser is an American physicist and geophysicist born on February 16, 1931. He studied physics and earned his Ph.D. at New York University, later becoming an Associate Professor there. His research focused on cosmic rays and magnetohydrodynamics at the Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory. Beiser is also an accomplished author of numerous physics textbooks and has written about geology and sailing. He is known for his expeditions for cosmic ray observation and is a passionate sailor, having circumnavigated Cape Horn and crossed the Atlantic Ocean twice.
