He became a member of the Union of Writers of the USSR in 1934 and participated in the Great Patriotic War. The pen name 'Shaybon' is derived from an abbreviation of the geographical names Shey and Botan from Western Armenia. He passed away on January 15, 1982, in Yerevan, Armenian SSR, USSR.
