Ashraf Siddiqui (March 1, 1927 - March 19, 2020) was a prominent Bengali writer, folklorist, and former Director General of the Bangla Academy. He significantly enriched 20th-century Bengali literature, authoring over 500 poems and conducting deep research on Bengali folk traditions. Siddiqui was a multifaceted literary figure, contributing as an essayist, short story writer, novelist, folklorist, and children's author. His contributions to Bengali literature were recognized when he received the Bangla Academy Award in 1964 and the Ekushey Padak, Bangladesh's highest civilian award, in 1988.
