Auður Sveinsdóttir Laxness was an influential Icelandic writer and craftswoman born on July 20, 1918. She is renowned for her role in popularizing the Icelandic Lopapeysa sweater in the mid-20th century. Auður served as a secretary and writing collaborator for her husband, Halldór Laxness, a Nobel Prize-winning author. In recognition of her significant contributions to Icelandic culture, she was awarded the Grand Cross of the Order of the Falcon in 2002. Auður passed away on October 29, 2012.
