Bascom Ray Lakin was a prominent Baptist preacher and evangelist known for his extensive ministry and impactful sermons. Born in 1901 in West Virginia, Lakin became a Christian at sixteen and began preaching shortly after. He served as a circuit-riding preacher before gaining national recognition as the pastor of Cadle Tabernacle in Indianapolis. Over a thirty-year evangelistic career, he reportedly saw around one hundred thousand conversions. Lakin mentored Jerry Falwell and was honored posthumously with a university department named after him. He continued preaching until shortly before his death in 1984.
