Benigne Marquès i Sala is a Catalan canon and archivist, born on February 13, 1940, in Oliana. He became the archivist of the Episcopal Archive of Urgell in 1974 and is a graduate in Canon Law. Marquès has contributed significantly to research on archival science, cultural and religious history in Urgell and Lleida, and has directed the 'Quaderns d'Estudis Andorrans' since 1996. In 2020, he received the Creu de Sant Jordi for his work in preserving and promoting Catalan culture.
