Besime Konca is a Kurdish politician born in 1970 in Maras, known for her affiliation with the Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP). She was detained multiple times for her political activities, including a significant imprisonment from 1993 to 2004, and again from 2009 to 2014. Elected as an MP for Siirt in the 2015 general elections, she faced legal troubles leading to several arrests and convictions. Following a court sentence in July 2017 for alleged terrorist affiliations, she left Turkey and has since lived in exile in Europe.
