Boyan Raynov was a Bulgarian sculptor and artist born on February 22, 1921, in Sofia. He was the son of philosopher and writer Nikolai Raynov and the brother of writer Bogomil Raynov. Raynov graduated from the Sofia Academy of Art. In 1947 he moved to France, where he experienced political challenges and familial separation due to the communist regime in Bulgaria. He created notable sculptures using metals and innovative materials. He received accolades for his work, including a first prize in Monte Carlo, and had several public installations mainly in the suburbs of Paris. He died in Paris.
