Brian Shimer is a retired American bobsledder born on April 20, 1962, in Naples. He competed in five Winter Olympics from 1988 to 2002, winning a bronze medal in the four-man bobsleigh event at the 2002 Salt Lake City Olympics. Shimer was also the flag bearer for the United States during the closing ceremony of those Games. In addition to his Olympic success, he earned three bronze medals at the Bobsleigh World Championships and won the World Cup in both four-man and combined events during the 1992-1993 season. After retiring, he became a coach.
