Carla Maia de Almeida is a Portuguese freelance journalist, writer, educator, and translator specializing in children's literature. Born in Matosinhos in 1969, she holds degrees in Social Communication and a postgraduate degree related to children's books. In October 2010, she became the first children's author to receive a foreign residency support from the Directorate-General for Books and Libraries. Her work is included in the National Reading Plan, and she currently resides in Lisbon, overseeing children's book review pages for the magazine LER and running the blog O Jardim Assombrado.
