Carlos Franklin Paixão de Araújo was a Brazilian labor lawyer and politician, born on February 18, 1938, in São Francisco de Paula. He served as a state deputy in Rio Grande do Sul for three terms from February 1, 1991, to February 1, 2003. He was married to former Brazilian president Dilma Rousseff for 25 years and was active in opposition against the military dictatorship starting in 1964. Araújo passed away on August 12, 2017, at the age of 79, due to health complications.
