Charles Sobhraj, born on April 6, 1944, is a notorious serial killer and con artist who targeted Western tourists on the hippie trail in South Asia during the 1970s. Known as the 'Bikini Killer' due to the clothing of many of his victims, he is believed to have murdered at least 20 tourists, with 14 victims in Thailand. Sobhraj was imprisoned in India from 1976 to 1997 and later arrested in Nepal in 2003, receiving a life sentence. He was released in December 2022 due to old age after spending 19 years in prison and was subsequently deported to France.
