Charlie Kerins was an Irish Republican and Chief of Staff of the Irish Republican Army, known for his physical force activism. He was part of a group of IRA men executed by the Irish State between 1940 and 1944. Captured in 1944 after two years on the run, he was tried for the murder of Garda Detective Sergeant Denis O'Brien and subsequently hanged at Mountjoy Prison in Dublin on 1 December 1944.
