Chedly Zoukar was a prominent Tunisian poet, journalist, and diplomat, who passed away on December 4, 2008, at the age of 77. He was a professor of Arabic language and one of the founders of the Tunisian Writers' Union. Zoukar was an honorary member of the Modern Arab Literature Association in Cairo and had a significant impact on local and Arab literary and artistic critique. He also worked in the Tunisian diplomatic service in Beirut after starting his career in Tunisian radio, where he contributed to various cultural and political programs.
