Clifford Hiley Mortimer (1911–2010) was a notable British zoologist and hydrodynamics expert. He graduated in Zoology from Manchester University and earned a Ph.D. in Berlin. He served as a civilian scientist with the Admiralty during WWII and later directed the Scottish Marine Biological Station. Mortimer was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society and received the A.C. Redfield Lifetime Achievement Award in 1995 for significant contributions in aquatic biology. He authored works on lake dynamics and held leadership roles in multiple scientific organizations.
