Craige Schensted was an American physicist and mathematician born on April 12, 1927, and passed away on January 22, 2021. He is best known for formulating the insertion algorithm in 1961, which defines the Robinson–Schensted correspondence, a significant concept in combinatorics. Although the correspondence was initially described by Gilbert de Beauregard Robinson in 1938, Schensted's algorithm popularized it. He also created several board games and changed his name to Ea Ea in 1999, inspired by the Babylonian name for the Sumerian god Enki. Schensted resided on Peaks Island, Maine.
