David Edward Maust was an American serial killer born on April 5, 1954, who primarily targeted male teenagers. His criminal activities spanned Germany and the United States. In 1984, he was sentenced to 35 years in prison but was released on probation in June 1999. However, after completing probation, he resumed his killings, which led to his final arrest and three life sentences without parole. Maust died by suicide in his jail cell in January 2006, leaving behind a note confessing to five murders and expressing remorse to the victim's families.
