David M. Brewer was the seventh person executed in Ohio after the reinstatement of the death penalty in 1981. Executed on April 29, 2003, he spent over 17 years on death row following his conviction for the 1985 murder of Sherry Byrne. Brewer opted for a trial by a three-judge panel rather than a jury. Found guilty on September 19, 1985, he was sentenced to death in October of the same year. His appeals for clemency were denied, culminating in his execution at the state prison in Lucasville, Ohio.
