He is a member of the Liberal Democracy of Slovenia and was elected for the third time to the National Assembly of the Republic of Slovenia in 2004. During this term, he served on various committees, including as the president of the Committee for the Supervision of Intelligence and Security Services. He left the Liberal Democracy of Slovenia in 2006.
