Dinesh Chandra Gorai is an influential Indian leader within the Church of North India (CNI) and a prominent Bengali-speaking figure. He made history by becoming the first non-Anglican Bishop of Calcutta, serving from 1982 to 1999. Additionally, he was the Moderator of the CNI from 1983 to 1986 and played a significant role in the church as its inaugural bishop upon its formation in 1970, leading the Diocese of Barrackpore until 1982.
