Domício Proença Filho is a Brazilian academic and former president of the Brazilian Academy of Letters, born on January 25, 1936, in Rio de Janeiro. He completed his education at various institutions, obtaining a bachelor's degree in 1957 and a PhD in Literature. Proença has taught at numerous universities, notably serving over three decades at Universidade Federal Fluminense where he became an Emeritus Professor in 2002. He was elected to the Brazilian Academy of Letters in 2006 and became its president in 2016.
