Donn E. Rosen (1929-1986) was an American zoologist and ichthyologist, known for his work on fish evolution. He served as the head of the ichthyology department at the American Museum of Natural History from 1960 to 1985. He earned his bachelor's degree in 1955, master's in 1957, and PhD in 1959, all from New York University. A significant contributor to ichthyology, he co-authored a pivotal modern text on teleost fish classification. Rosen also advanced historical biogeography methods and expanded a fish collection at the museum from 500,000 to 1.5 million specimens.
