Erich Ohser, known by his pseudonym e. o. Plauen, was a notable German cartoonist born on March 18, 1903, in Untergettengrün. He grew up in Plauen, where a museum and monument dedicated to him are located. Ohser studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Leipzig and worked for various newspapers, becoming famous for his anti-fascist caricatures and the comic strip 'Vater und Sohn'. He was arrested during World War II and died by suicide in prison before his trial in 1944. He is commemorated with the e. o. Plauen Prize.
