Ede Zsigmond (also known as Ádám) was a Hungarian Jewish communist poet, writer, and journalist born on May 18, 1916, in Pestcenterzébet (now part of Budapest). He was trained as a teacher in Hungarian and German, but he never pursued this profession due to his political activities. Zsigmond was one of the representatives of Hungarian lyric literature who perished in the Holocaust. His works are characterized by a stance against social intolerance and fascism, advocating for humanism. In 1944, he went missing on the Eastern Front, among Jews sent to forced labor camps.
