Edmon Maria Garreta i Olivella was a Cistercian monk born on January 15, 1921, in Barcelona. He served as the abbot of Santa Maria de Poblet from 1954 to 1967 and later became the prior of Santa Maria de Solius, where he remained until 1999. He entered the monastery in 1944, completed his theological studies in Switzerland, and was ordained in 1949. Garreta played a key role in founding the Santa Maria de Solius monastery. He passed away on May 1, 2017.
