Egor Popov (February 6, 1913 – April 19, 2001) was a prominent American civil engineer known for his contributions to structural engineering. Born in Kyiv, he immigrated to the U.S. with his family following turbulent times in Russia. He earned a bachelor's degree from the University of California, Berkeley, a master's from MIT, and completed his doctorate at Stanford University in 1946. As a professor at Berkeley, he led the Structural Mechanics department and made significant advancements in earthquake-resistant steel construction. He received numerous awards, including the Von Karman Medal.
