Ėlla Gankina (1924–2023) was a prominent Russian art historian and specialist in children's book illustrations. She earned her candidate degree in art studies with a thesis on Russian artists in children's literature, published in 1963. Gankina worked with the Soviet Artist publishing house for many years and later moved to Israel in 1992. Her significant publications include works on influential artists and an overview of illustrated children's books in Russia. She authored a memoir released in 2023, reflecting on her experiences in art and culture.
