Ellen Jane Langer (born March 25, 1947) is a professor of psychology at Harvard University. She became the first woman to hold a psychology position at Harvard in 1981. Langer studies illusions of control, decision-making processes, aging, and the theory of mind. Her 2009 book, Counter Clockwise, is considered her most influential work, addressing questions about aging derived from her extensive research and growing interest in the characteristics of aging across the nation.
