Emiel van de Laarschot was a Dutch politician born on February 17, 1912, in Bergen op Zoom. He joined the Royal Military Academy in Breda in 1929 and became a second lieutenant in the 9th Infantry Regiment. He was promoted to first lieutenant and later became captain. In 1938, he was appointed adjutant to the Governor of Curaçao. After leaving military service in 1950, he served as chairman of the Red Cross and became mayor of several municipalities, concluding his mayoral career in 1970.
