Erich Parthey was a folk artist from the Erzgebirge region, renowned for his mechanical creations celebrating local culture. His main work, the Erzgebirgische Dorfkirmes, is displayed at the Museum for Miner's Folk Art in Schneeberg. He began creating mechanical Christmas and Heimat landscapes in his free time, starting with a carousel in 1922. In 1936, he created his major work but lost his home in a bombing before its completion. After the war, he worked as a teacher and later in a machinery factory. A street in Chemnitz was named after him.
