Erika Franke is a retired German military doctor and officer who achieved the rank of Major General in the Bundeswehr. Born on May 8, 1954, in East Berlin, she was the first woman in the Bundeswehr to reach the rank of Major General. Franke is only the second woman to hold a general rank in the Bundeswehr, following the now-retired military doctor Verena von Weymarn, and she is also noted for being the first female general from the new German states. She served as the commander of the Bundeswehr Medical Academy.
