Ernst Wimmer was an Austrian political journalist, communist, Marxist theorist, politician, and aphorist, born on June 17, 1924, in Horn, Lower Austria. He played a significant role in the development of the Communist Party of Austria (KPÖ) during the 1970s and 1980s and had a substantial influence on parts of the intellectual and cultural left in Austria. Wimmer's contributions shaped political discourse and leftist ideas in the country until his passing on October 27, 1991, in Vienna.
