Faisal II (May 2, 1935 - July 14, 1958) was the last king of Iraq, serving from 1939 until 1958. He succeeded his father, King Ghazi, after his death in a car accident. Faisal attended Harrow School in the UK and had a close relationship with his cousin, future King Hussein of Jordan. Until 1953, Iraq was under the regency of his uncle, Prince Abdullah. Faisal's reign was marked by political upheaval, including a coup attempt in 1941. He was killed during a coup in 1958, ending any hopes for a future monarchy in Iraq.
