Fernando Sansò is an Italian geodesist and professor at the Polytechnic University of Milan, born on May 6, 1945, in Milan. His research focuses on the Earth's gravity field, satellite geodesy, and mathematical optimization problems, including geodetic network design. He has published seven technical books on these topics and has held leadership roles in the International Association of Geodesy (IAG), contributing significantly to its reorganization in the 1990s. He was awarded the Antonio Feltrinelli Prize in 1986.
