Frank Ferenc Partos (1901-1956) was a Hungarian-American screenwriter known for his contributions to early film noir. Emigrating to the U.S. in 1928, he initially worked as a journalist and wrote short stories before joining Metro in 1929 and later Paramount. Notably, he co-wrote the screenplay for 'Stranger on the Third Floor' (1940), considered one of the first film noirs. He also co-adapted the autobiographical novel 'The Snake Pit', earning an Oscar nomination in 1949. Partos was active in the Screen Actors Guild and engaged in numerous screenwriting projects throughout his career.
