Vivian Frederick Maynard FitzSimons (1901-1975) was a South African herpetologist who served as the director of the Transvaal Museum. He significantly contributed to the plant collection for the National Herbarium, now part of the South African National Biodiversity Institute. In 1937, he, alongside Anna Amelia Obermeyer, collected some of the first plant specimens from the Eastern Highlands of Rhodesia. Together with Charles Koch, he established the Namib Desert Research Institute in Gobabeb. FitzSimons came from a family of naturalists, with both parents being from Ireland.
