Frederick William Kite, known as Buck, was a highly decorated British soldier who served in World War II. Born in Newcastle-under-Lyme in 1921, he joined the 3rd Royal Tank Regiment at 17. Kite received the Military Medal with two Bars for gallantry in action, showcasing extraordinary courage and leadership in North Africa and Normandy. His remarkable bravery was evident during significant battles where he commanded a tank against overwhelming odds. He is notably the only member of the British Army to be awarded the Military Medal three times during this conflict.
