Garnik Khachaturi Stepanyan (Tēr-Stepanyan) was an Armenian literary scholar, theater expert, writer, and lexicographer. Born on February 14, 1909, in Mamakhatun, Turkey, he made significant contributions to Armenian literature. He obtained a doctorate in art studies in 1971 and was recognized as Honored Figure of Arts of the Armenian SSR in 1967. Stepanyan was a recipient of the State Prize of the Armenian SSR in 1980 for his collective work on the history of modern Armenian literature. He was a member of the Writers' Union and the Communist Party.
