Gennady Mikhailovich Kolesnikov was a Russian Soviet poet born on March 12, 1937, in Pyatigorsk, North Caucasus. He gained prominence for his poetry, many of which were turned into songs and performed on Central television and radio. One of his most famous works is the song 'Topolya,' which was composed by G. Ponomarenko. Kolesnikov passed away on September 9, 1995, in Pyatigorsk, Stavropol Krai.
