George Waring was a British television actor who had an extensive career from 1962 to 2000. He is best known for his role as Arnold Swain, the bigamist husband of Emily Bishop on the iconic soap opera Coronation Street in 1980. Waring's early work included parts in the long-running courtroom drama Crown Court during the 1970s and appearances in Doctor Who in 1967. He was educated at Ducie High School in Manchester and joined the Royal Air Force at 18, later taking on various acting roles across different platforms, including stage and television.
