George Wayne Smith, born January 29, 1955, is a bishop in the Episcopal Church. He served as the 10th Bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Missouri from 2002 until his retirement in 2020. Following his retirement, he became Bishop Provisional for the Diocese of Southern Ohio from 2021 to 2024. Raised as a Baptist, he converted to the Episcopal Church during his time at Baylor University. Smith was instrumental in community engagement and mission development in the church during his tenure.
