Gilbert Mercier, born on May 2, 1931, in Sainte-Foy-Tarentaise, is a former French biathlete and cross-country skier. He participated in the 1954 Nordic Ski Championships, finishing sixth with the relay team. At the 1960 Winter Olympics, he took part in the inaugural Olympic biathlon event, recording the seventh-best skiing time despite incurring significant shooting penalties. Mercier also competed in Biathlon World Championships in the early 1960s, achieving various placements, with his last event being the 1967 championships.
