He studied management at the Technical University in Zvolen and completed his high school education at Gymnázium Dominika Tatarku in Poprad. Mareš began his broadcasting career in 1994 at Rádio Family, later joining Rádio Twist and Rádio Slovensko. He also has extensive television experience, including anchoring regional news and programs for Slovenská televízia and TV Markíza, notably the science magazine VAT and the competition show STV Duel.
