Sune Gunnar Lorenz af Björkesten (1912-1974) was a Finnish neurosurgeon who served as a professor at the University of Helsinki from 1963 to 1973 and as the chief physician of the neurosurgery department at HYKS. He graduated as a licentiate in medicine in 1938 and gained extensive experience during the wars, treating brain and nervous system injuries. A pioneer in aneurysm surgery, he received board certification in surgery in 1945 and in neurosurgery in 1952, making significant contributions to his field.
