Hajime Funakata (船方 一, 1912 - 1957) was a Japanese poet known for his contributions to proletarian literature. Born in Yokohama, he became involved in theater and literature while working at the Yokohama port. Funakata participated in the founding of the Kanagawa branch of the Japan Proletarian Writers' League and published poems in their publications. After serving time in prison for violating the Peace Preservation Law, he continued to write poetry and engage in labor and political movements. He died in a traffic accident in 1957. His works were published posthumously.
