Helen Michaelis was a prominent figure in the development of the modern Quarter Horse. Born on February 7, 1905, in Junction, Texas, she served as the secretary-treasurer of the American Quarter Horse Association from March 1942 to August 1946. Her contributions were recognized when she became the first woman to be inducted into the American Quarter Horse Hall of Fame. She passed away on July 26, 1965, in Kyle, Texas.
