He designed the Volvo PV 444 and constructed gas generators for Volvo. A successful racing driver, Petterson was also known for trimming Excelsior racing machines in the US and his involvement in gas producer competitions. His work in the automotive industry included notable projects and innovations at Volvo, where he was instrumental in the development of the Volvo P1800 and other models.
