Hermann Jón Tómasson, born April 13, 1959, in Akureyri, is a former mayor of Akureyri. He grew up in Dalvík and studied at various institutions including Dalvíkurskóli and Texas Tech University. Tómasson has mainly worked in teaching, consulting, and management at Verkmenntaskólinn á Akureyri. He served as a council member from 2002 to 2012 and was the chairman of the city council from 2006 to 2009. Tómasson was mayor for the year 2009-2010. He is married with three children.
