Hideko Kawabata (1907-2002) was the wife of renowned Japanese author Yasunari Kawabata. Born in Hachinohe, Aomori Prefecture, she graduated from Aomori Prefectural Hachinohe Girls' High School. She met Kawabata in 1925 and married him in 1931. After his death, she published her memoir 'With Yasunari Kawabata' in 1983. Kawabata was a prominent figure in the modernist art scene in the late Taisho period, participating in cultural trends like the modern girl movement and social gatherings in the Magome literary village.
